Greetings,

Arizona Law is once again buzzing with the energy of students on campus. As we march forward into another great year, allow me to share some of the details of our new classes.

The 168 new students who arrived last week (138 in the JD class) are from 24 US states and 24 countries, and more than 100 undergraduate institutions. This year establishes Arizona Law as one of the most globally diverse law schools in the history of American legal education. We are proud to have students from:

Albania

Argentina

Arizona

Arkansas

Brazil

California

Canada

China

Colorado

Connecticut

Florida

France

Georgia

Germany

Guadeloupe

Guatemala

Hawaii

Illinois

India

Indiana

Iran

Kansas

Kazakhstan

Mexico

Rhode Island

Saudi Arabia

South Korea

Spain

Tanzania

Tennessee

United States

When I read the list during orientation, the largest smile occurred for the unlikely pairing of Kansas and Kazahkstan!

In this week's Letter of the Law, I would like to share some of the orientation activities that welcomed our new JD, LLM, MLS, and SJD students.

Until the footnotes,

For most students, it has always been orientation.

The energy in the classrooms, the hallways, and courtyards is infectious.  The late summer monsoon weather is cooperating, with days not as hot as some feared, with dramatic clouds, and with an equally dramatic sense that something new and wonderful is under way.

Warmly,
