This week we continue our summer series of alumni stories, checking in with Tucson local and new Law College Association President Angela Woolridge, of the Class of 2002.
We are deeply grateful to outgoing LCA President, Christine Thompson ('01) for her dedicated service over the past year -- and as she knows, we will continue to call on her leadership in the future.

LCA President Angela Woolridge ('02)
|
 Angela Woolridge ('02) began her term as Law College Association President in June. She has been a dedicated member of the LCA board since 2013.
She says that her main focus as LCA president is to engage as much of the University of Arizona Law alumni community as possible. She hopes to encourage all alumni to support the college and find ongoing connections each alum finds meaningful and rewarding.
Originally from Wisconsin, Angela moved to Tucson to attend Arizona Law in 1999. She met her husband here and says her favorite thing about Tucson is the many strong friendships she found at the college and in the community.
"Working together with my fellow editors was incredibly rewarding and educational (and even fun at times!), and having my note published was one of my most valued accomplishments." After graduating in 2002, Angela clerked for Pima County Superior Court Judge Charles Sabalos ('74) for a year. She then worked as a prosecutor at the Pima County Attorney's Office for three years, and has been an Assistant United States Attorney for the past 14 years. She is grateful for her ongoing Arizona Law connections. "These connections have been rewarding on a personal level and on a professional level. Through the UA Law community I have gained mentors who have taught me a great deal and guided me in my career. I have also connected with mentees to whom I am able to extend the same assistance so graciously extended to me." Angela advises recent alumni that the connections they develop now -- for example through the LCA and attending Arizona Law networking events, reunions, and Homecoming -- will benefit them throughout their future careers. Congratulations on the start of your tenure as LCA president, Angela.

Arizona Law and Health Current to Co-Host Health Law Reception at UA Phoenix Biomedical Campus, August 15
We invite Arizona Law alumni, health care professionals, and others who are interested in connecting and learning about exciting new initiatives in the health law and policy field to attend the inaugural reception co-hosted by Arizona Law and Health Current at the UA Phoenix Biomedical Campus on August 15. "Health Current is the health information exchange (HIE) for the state of Arizona," says Professor Tara Sklar. "They are the leaders in integrating electronic health records with delivery of care to improve patients' health and wellbeing." Over 85 percent of the health care providers in the state (500 organizations and 3,000-plus members) participate in Health Current. Associate Dean Christopher Robertson adds, "We are delighted to partner with an innovative technology platform that will enable better clinical decisions and care coordination throughout the state."

This is an interesting turning point in the college calendar. One month remains until we welcome the new class -- and, a week later, start fall classes at full speed.
Yet a whole month also remains for summer jobs, articles and projects, planning fall courses, and, with luck, a little more time for a summer escape.
And in the exciting year ahead we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible, here, there, and everywhere.
