Congratulations to the many individuals and organizations with Arizona Law roots who were recognized with awards during the 2018 State Bar of Arizona convention, including but not limited to:
Alumna Anne M. Ryan ('84) received the bar association's Sharon A. Fullmer Legal Aid Attorney of the Year Award.
The Tom A. Karas Criminal Justice Awards were presented to two Arizona Law alumni, the Hon. David G. Derickson ('69) and Walter B. Nash, III ('71).
The Michael C. Cudahy Criminal Justice Award went to Kimberly H. Ortiz ('93).
The Hon. Michael Pollard, a 1972 alumnus of the College of Law, was honored with the bar association's 2018 Special Merit Award. Among his recent accomplishments, Judge Pollard helped establish the Tucson Veterans Treatment Court and Regional Municipalities Veterans Treatment Court.
Los Abogados Hispanic Bar Association, with connections to many Arizona Law alumni, was awarded 2018 Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Award. Among its contributions to the Arizona legal community, Los Abogados sponsors the Hon. Valdemar A. Cordova Scholarship in honor of Arizona's first Latino federal court judge. Judge Cordova was a 1950 graduate of the college.
The Arizona Women Lawyers' Association (AWLA) recognized longtime LCA board member Judge Margaret Houghton ('76) with the Sarah Herring Sorin Award during its annual breakfast. At the breakfast, current 2L Karen Donderewicz was recognized as this year's Mary Anne Richey Scholarship recipient.

Also during the convention, the Arizona Foundation for Legal Services and Education recognized alumnus and longtime Arizona Law Board of Visitors member Patrick McGroder ('70) with its Walter Craig Award. The same organization presented Dennis Lusk ('78) with the Mark Santana Award.
