A new school year means excited and nervous 1Ls, Welcome Back events, and lots of free pizza for students! As I begin my 3L year, I am excited to share with you some exciting new plans that Arizona Law's Student Bar Association has for the new school year, and to introduce you to SBA's 2017-2018 Executive Officers.

With just 248 days until graduation, (but who's counting?) I am so appreciative for all of the experiences I have gained during my time at Arizona Law.
My involvement with SBA, Law Women's Association, and the Arizona Journal of International and Comparative Law will without a doubt aid me after graduation, and as an associate at Snell & Wilmer's Tucson office.
Of all my experiences at Arizona Law, SBA has truly been the most memorable, as it has given me the opportunity to know students in every class and leave a lasting sense of community.
Already this year, SBA is preparing to get a ping pong table so students can relax during breaks. We are planning a Clash of Classes Kickball Tournament to see which class possesses the best kickball skills, and we are getting our online store set up so students and alumni can preorder their Arizona Law merchandise and rep their Wildcat pride!
As you learn more about SBA, I am sure you will agree that Arizona Law's student leaders are just as impressive as ever.

Clinical Professor of Law Susan Salmon is the new director of legal writing. Salmon had been assistant director of legal writing since 2010 and succeeds longtime director Suzanne Rabe, who retired in May.
"This is my dream job. I've wanted to do this since I was in law school," says Salmon.
Salmon's vision for the program involves ensuring that each first-year law student learns legal analysis and writing from someone dedicated full-time to that endeavor. There is also a new Arizona Law Writing Center serving students across all degrees.
Dean Marc Miller says of Salmon, "Her vision builds on a strong and well-established program while responding to changes in the profession, new technologies, the need to expand advanced writing and drafting, and the evolution of degrees beyond the JD. Our goal is to have the best legal writing program in the country, and we're well on our way."

Arizona Law's expanding legal writing program offers a diverse array of courses while keeping class sizes intimate -- 15 students or less -- to provide individualized attention and comprehensive feedback.
The new legal writing faculty team is composed of new and familiar faces. Tessa Dysart joins as assistant director. Joy E. Herr-Cardillo, Sylvia Lett, Carolyn Williams, and Diana Simon round out the faculty.
"This team brings years of knowledge, experience and diverse backgrounds, adding value to the legal writing program at Arizona Law," says new director Susan Salmon. "They share the same overall vision for the program and are invested in the future success of our students. I look forward to working with these talented individuals."
