July 13, 2022

Greetings,

Over the past several months, we have shared progress about “A New Day in Court,” our initiative to transform the student advocacy experience with new state-of-the-art facilities. This week, we feature the generous gift of the Mac Ban Law Offices. Thanks to the firm and all those who have contributed!

Mac Ban Law Offices Contributes $50,000 to Support ‘A New Day in Court’ Initiative at Arizona Law

We are very grateful to share that the Tucson-based Mac Ban Law Offices has made a $50,000 donation to the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law in support of the college’s $6 million “A New Day in Court” initiative. The campaign, which launched last year, seeks to significantly reconstruct the two practice courtrooms inside the College of Law building and expand the college’s advocacy program offerings.

“A New Day in Court” will update University of Arizona Law’s current courtrooms, which were built in the late 1970s, creating fully functional, state-of-the-art spaces that give students proper courtroom settings in which to learn and practice. The college’s advocacy program will also be renamed the Thomas Mauet Advocacy Program, in honor of Arizona Law Professor Emeritus and renowned trial expert Thomas Mauet.

When construction is completed, arguments will be heard from the Laura & Barry Mac Ban, Mac Ban Law Offices Judge’s Bench, an upgraded space in one of the college’s two new courtrooms.

Mac Ban Law Offices specializes in professional liability, healthcare liability, elder abuse, personal injury, complex tort litigation, wrongful death, and product liability.

Founding partner Laura Mac Ban is a 1988 University of Arizona Law graduate. She is rated AV/5.0 “Preeminent”® by her peers in Martindale Hubbell and has more than 34 years of extensive experience in all facets of litigating medical malpractice, professional liability and complex tort cases, including serving as lead counsel in jury trials, arbitrations, hospital administrative due process hearings and mediations.

“University of Arizona Law made a tremendous impact on my life, and I am grateful for the opportunity to support aspiring lawyers through this campaign,” explained Laura. “The advocacy program does an exceptional job of training highly competent, prepared litigators. Through the ‘A New Day in Court’ initiative, we can expect to see more outstanding lawyers enter the field ready to effectively advocate for their clients.”
