On November 3, University of Arizona Law’s Native and Indigenous Law Students Association (NILSA), Indigenous Peoples Law and Policy (IPLP) Program and Daniel F. Cracchiolo Law Library co-hosted the inaugural display of the Rotating Tribal Flags Initiative in partnership with the University of Arizona Office of Native American Advancement & Tribal Engagement.

The event marked the first flag display of the new initiative, which honors and recognizes the 22 federally recognized Native Nations of Arizona by displaying their flags across campus spaces—an effort to increase visibility, respect, education and awareness of Indigenous presence and history at the University of Arizona. The event included a blessing of the flags and educational program.

The flags are on display at the College of Law throughout November.

For three weeks each year, the January in Tucson accelerated education event brings together distinguished faculty in the field of Indigenous governance, law and policy for an opportunity to teach and hold discussions with Indigenous leaders, practitioners, community members and anyone interested in Indigenous rights.

Hosted by IPLP and the University of Arizona Native Nations Institute, January in Tucson serves as a world-class education program to help Indigenous professionals and interested allies learn proven ways to help build thriving Native Nations.

Each accelerated course runs for four hours a day over three consecutive days.
