Red, Blue and True: LawCats Celebrate Homecoming 2025

Throughout the week of November 2 to 8, Homecoming events were happening all around the University of Arizona with the theme “Red, Blue and True.”

For those who joined us at law school events, it was a joy to catch up. Here are some photo highlights from the weekend.

Red & Blue BBQ

Lifetime Achievement Awards

The Lifetime Achievement Awards honorees were selected by faculty for their distinguished and exemplary careers, contributions to the legal profession, support for public causes and law reform and commitment to the pursuit of justice. This year, we were proud to honor Burt Kinerk (’62), Judge Roxanne Song Ong (’78) and Judge John Roll (’72) (posthumously).

FROM THE COLLEGE

Support Huerta Scholars Program on Giving Tuesday Dec. 2

The Indigenous Peoples Law and Policy (IPLP) Program is preparing for another successful Giving Tuesday Huerta Scholarship campaign, taking place December 2.

Established in 2014 in honor of Judge Lawrence Huerta (’53), the scholarship has grown into a meaningful source of support for Indigenous law students at the University of Arizona College of Law. Now in its eleventh year, it continues to carry forward a powerful legacy by helping students pursue their legal education, contribute to their Nations and shape the future of Indigenous law and policy.

It also provides essential financial stability, allowing students to concentrate on their studies and fully participate in the law school experience.

Last year with your support, we raised more than $50,000 for Indigenous law students attending University of Arizona Law. That generosity translated directly into scholarship funding and other resources for students preparing to serve and lead in Native communities. This year, we’re excited to continue building on that impact.

Law Women’s Association Hosts Networking Event

The Law Women’s Association recently hosted its annual speakeasy networking event at the home of Clinical Professor of Law Diana Simon. The evening was an opportunity for students, faculty, alumni and at least one furry friend to connect in a relaxed and festive environment.

Homecoming was a whirlwind of events and friends, new and old. Looking at the pictures of the weekend, I’m able to slow down and take it in again.

As we head into Thanksgiving and then the winter holidays, I am genuinely grateful for this community.

Onward!
